There were plenty of laughs to be had at the Sapphire Comedy Hour on June 14! Five time college entertainer of the year Sean Carlin, hosted a hilarious night of comedians, acrobats, magicians, and even the lovely Daisy De La Hoya and reality star Farrah Abraham were in attendance to catch the Sapphire Comedy Hour firsthand.
Bob Zany entertained the crowd with a superb set. In 1977, at the tender age of fifteen, the native Southern Californian appeared on the infamous Gong Show. Halfway through his stand-up routine, which he read from a piece of paper, he was pulled off the stage by a man dressed like a nun wielding a net. Eleven years later, he made a triumphant return as a celebrity judge. This marked the first of over 100 appearances on national television. Other accomplishments include the creation of Bob Zany’s Comedy Outlets, with over 50 locations throughout California and Nevada.
Zan Auferheide followed with an equally impressive set. While working as a road comic in the Midwest, Zan won a radio contest and the prize was to open for Chonda Pierce, the Queen of Clean. The “one-minute joke” paid off big and turned into an eighteen month national tour. This Cinderella story took her from comedy clubs and open mics to playing theatres, arenas, and churches all over the country, culminating on the stage of the Ryman Auditorium, home of The Grand Ole Opry, during the taping of “This Ain’t Prettyville”.
Phil Skratch Cummings made the comedy trifecta complete. The raspy-voiced funny man can be seen reularly in Las Vegas, and he’s been all over the U.S. from the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, to the CW’s Future Stars of Wrestling (FSW High Octane) as a profesional wrestling manager. His voice is well developed, along with his personality on stage.
