UFC 158’s Fight Card and preview
Mike Ricci (7-3) VS Colin Fletcher (8-2)
Both fighters are coming off unanimous decision losses in December. Mike “The Martian” Ricci will be fighting in his hometown and will most likely have the crowd behind him against the Englishman Fletcher. The Martian will look to use his impressive Muay Thai, which has knocked out four opponents. Fletcher’s unpredictability in the ring has captured him six first round submission finishes, and should use his height advantage in this fight. With Ricci having more experience as a lightweight fighter, he may have to use his athleticism as an advantage.
Light Heavyweight
Chris Camozzi (18-5) VS Nick Ring (13-1)
Chris Camozzi comes in looking for his fourth consecutive victory in UFC. The American will have to do it against Canadian born Nick Ring in Canada. Ring, 34, was supposed to face Costa Phillipou this past November, but their fight was canceled due to Ring having the flu the day of the event. Fans and media have questioned the legitimacy of Ring’s decision victories over Court McGee and Riki Fukuda, so Camozzi will most likely be looking for his twelfth finisher in twenty fights rather than leave it to the judges.
Jake Ellenberger (28-6) VS Nate Marquardt (32-11-2)
Jake Ellenberger rebounded from his Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale knockout loss to Martin Kampmann to defeat Jay Hieron via unanimous decision in October. Ellenberger was originally supposed to fight Johny Hendricks, but Rory MacDonald’s neck injury had Hendricks replace MacDonald to go up against Carlos Condit. This allowed Nate Marquardt, a former middleweight contender, to step in. This will be Marquardt’s first fight since his failed drug test in June 2011. While Ellenberger has a contending spot to fight for, and Marquardt is looking for redemption in the UFC. Georges St-Pierre will be keeping an eye on this match while preparing for his Main Event.
Carlos Condit (28-6) VS Johny Hendricks (14-1)
With Rory MacDonald’s injury, Johny Hendricks takes his spot to face Carlos Condit. This match will most likely determine the next challenger to the Welterweight champion, whether it be Georges St-Pierre or Nick Diaz. Condit, nicknamed the natural born killer, is only the second man to ever knock St-Pierre down, which is a testament to his fighting skill. Hendricks, a 2005 and 2006 NCAA Division I wrestling title winner, has the boxing ability to deliver some heavy blows, but will need his wrestling technique to stay in the fight in what looks to be the possible fight of the night.

Ten straight victories and five straight unanimous decisions for Georges St-Pierre (GSP), along with eleven of his last twelve for Nick Diaz bring us to the Welterweight Championship. GSP and Diaz were set to fight in UFC 137, but Diaz was replaced by Carlos Condit due to Diaz missing required press conferences and media sessions prior to the match. GSP eventually withdrew from UFC 137 due to a knee injury suffered while training. With the fight seemingly in tact this time around, the relentless Jiu-Jitsu fighting spirit of Nick Diaz will go up against the ruthless, wrestling and dynamic Kyokushin Karate of GSP.
