With Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos splitting the first two fights, the third installment of the Heavyweight Championship between these two men is bound to be one to remember. Junior Dos Santos has brought himself back in contention after losing his first fight in the UFC to Velasquez by knocking out Mark Hunt with a spinning heel kick in UFC 160. Cain Velasquez’s only loss of his entire MMA career came by the hands of dos Santos (literally). Velasquez fell victim to numerous punches to the head, and dos Santos earned the KO victory. Velasquez claimed the belt in his second fight with dos Santos, winning via unanimous decision after a dominating performance. Velasquez successfully defended the belt against Antonio Silva, winning in just 80 seconds over “Bigfoot”.

Will this be the match that settles Velasquez and dos Santos? Or will there be more matches in the future? The fighters seem to disagree:
Cain Velasquez :”I think with this being the third one, we’re both one and one, this’ll kind of settle the whole trilogy itself. That’s it,” “I think there’ll be other opponents that need to be fought.”
Junior dos Santos: “Sooner or later we’re going to be fighting again because I think Cain Velasquez is a great opponent and a great fighter. He’s going to try to keep himself in a good position all the time, as a champion or a good position in the ranks. The same with myself. So I think we’re going to see each other again.”
Truly being the top two in their weight class, a ruthless battle in the octagon is waiting to happen on October 19, and whether it will be the last time these two face each other, it should be an epic fight card. Call 702.869.0003 for pickup and reservations!
