There have been many memories at Candlestick Park. Many playoff games with Joe Montana, Steve Young, Jerry Rice, Terrell Owens, Dana Stubblefield and many more greats have blessed the 49ers' home for the past several decades. Monday Night Football will say goodbye in what is the final home game for the San Francisco 49ers at Candlestick Park, where next season they will play in a state of the art stadium in the Bay Area.
The game itself will feature the Atlanta Falcons, who have underachieved although injuries have riddled their roster. Atlanta has only four wins in the season, their worst since drafting quarterback Matt Ryan. The team has had multiple games lost in heartbreaking fashion, and their talent level far exceeds their record of 4-10. The 49ers have played fairly well the entire season. Even though Seattle has booked their place as NFC West Champions, the 49ers have a lot to play for. The Arizona Cardinals are only a half game back, and the Saints (who are currently the last team from the NFC to have a playoff spot) are also looking to gain position.
