Tampa Bay Buccaneers Hall of Fame legend Warren Sapp will have his number 99 jersey retired on Monday Night Football. It may mark the first positive for Tampa Bay this season, as they are the only remaining winless team in the NFL. Sitting at an 0-8 record, Tampa Bay has had plenty of controversy this season. Beginning with embattled quarterback Josh Freeman who was benched then released early in the season, the Buccaneers have had to also deal with MRSA. Staph skin infections, including MRSA, generally start as small red bumps that resemble pimples, boils or spider bites. These can quickly turn into deep, painful abscesses that require surgical draining. Surprisingly, the Buccaneers are not the team with the most controversy surrounding them tonight.
Meet the Miami Dolphins. After a 3-0 start, Miami dropped four straight games before beating Cincinnati on Thursday Night Football. Where the controversy begins is with offensive linemen Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin. Initially, Martin had left the team abruptly. A few days later, text messages surfaced of Incognito using racial epithets towards Martin which resulted in Incognito being suspended indefinitely by the team during an NFL led investigation. Both Head Coach Joe Philbin and GM Jeff Ireland denied any recognition of problems in the locker room. Teammates of the players have expressed their lack of knowledge with Martin being uncomfortable in the locker room. To the surprise of many, the teammates even defended Incognito.
With Tampa Bay finally facing a team with more controversy than themselves, Week 10 is where they can take advantage and pull out a victory. Tampa Bay looked very impressive in the first half against Seattle, where they eventually lost in overtime. Miami can also use the media coverage as motivation to show they have a united locker room.
