Sapphire, “World’s largest Gentlemen’s Club” and Heineken Team Up to Fight Prostate Cancer by Raising Money for Sapphire Foundation for Prostate Cancer using “The Power of the Mustache”

11:50 pm

Las Vegas, NV, November 14, 2012 – Mustache November is the leading non-government fundraiser for prostate cancer research, aiming to change the face of men’s health through the power of the mustache!
The fundraising campaign, which was founded eight years ago in Melbourne, Australia (where mustaches are called “Mos”) aim to raise awareness of men’s cancers and health issues. By growing and grooming their mustaches, participants, known as “Mo Bros,” become walking, talking billboards for men’s health and solicit donations that support prostate and testicular cancer initiatives.
Mustache November is an annual global men’s health charity encouraging men to grow a mustache and women to support the Mo (mustache) for the 30 days of November as a sign of acknowledgment and support of men’s health issues focusing on early detection, diagnosis, and treatment options for cancer. Funds are raised for men’s health, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives. In 2011, 854,000 participants worldwide raised $126.3 million.
Heineken continues to surprise and inspire its consumers, as it launches its new global brand campaign…”The Power of the Mustache”, which ties into the “Mustache November” campaign to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer.
“We are extremely excited to be working with the Sapphire Foundation to help raise much needed money and awareness for the fight against prostate cancer. As of November 12th, we believe we are well on track to exceed $10,000 in charitable contributions from the efforts of our 30 brave volunteers who are selflessly setting vanity aside for this great cause,” states Jack Colton (founder of JackColton.com), in collaboration with Greg Berard with Heineken U.S.A.
On November 20, 2012, Heineken will be sponsoring the sixth annual Ping Pong Palooza industry tournament at Sapphire Gentlemen’s Club, located at 3025 Industrial Road in Las Vegas. The tournament pits teams of nightlife professionals against each other for a trophy that could only be described as the “World Cup of Stripper Ping Pong”. Attendees will also be able to purchase drink tickets from the Heineken booth during the event. Two tickets will be available for $8 and good for two Heinekens from the bar. Heineken will also be awarding prizes and a plaque/trophy to the “Best Mustache” that evening as part of the festivities. Proceeds go to the Sapphire Foundation for Prostate Cancer.
The Sapphire Foundation for Prostate Cancer is focused on helping men with prostate cancer that need financial assistance for medical expenditures and other financial needs while being treated for prostate cancer. The Foundation also hopes to motivate men to get tested for the disease, as early detection proves to be crucial in the treatment process. The Foundation, established in 2003, and has generated over $1,500,000 in donations and sponsorships to benefit programs related to the disease, to fund prostate cancer research, and also provide financial assistance for survivors of this disease.
“As a survivor of prostate cancer myself, I’m extremely grateful for the support and assistance of Heineken,” said Peter Feinstein, founder of the Sapphire Foundation for Prostate Cancer. “I love working on this type of charitable event as it allows us to shed light on prostate cancer, while at the same time, raising money to fight it.”
Feinstein says he felt lucky to survive prostate cancer and wanted to give back. When the National Prostate Foundation initially rejected funds generated through a gentlemen’s club, Peter was inspired to started the Sapphire Foundation for Prostate Cancer. “We knew we couldn’t raise enough money for research to solve the problem, so we decided to help men in Las Vegas who needed financial support while fighting prostate cancer. During this past year we helped more than 19 men who were undergoing treatment with rent and living expenses. Some of the men had their insurance premiums paid by the Foundation. Other contributions made by the Foundation went to the University of Wisconsin, University of South Florida, Dave Austin Foundation and Tahoe Forest Health System.” Feinstein says.
The Sapphire Ping Pong Palooza Tournament is the best way for you to donate to a very good cause, show off your best “stache,” and party with the most beautiful entertainers in the world all at the same time!  This year’s event starts at 6pm.
